                                          Programming:  How Can AFP Come to Your School?

                                          *  All programming options below are general explanations for school visitation programming.  AFP will tailor presentations based on specific school, student and teacher needs.

                                          Speaker Presentations
                                          AFP Founding Director Drew Kahn will deliver 45-90 minute presentation followed by question and answer period.  Group size ranges from 25-1,00 students.  Past topics include:  Recognizing the Seeds of Bullying:  Don’t Be a Bystander, Finding Anne Frank in Rwanda, Using Storytelling to Heal Wounded Communities, Tell Your Story:  What Are You Waiting For?!
                                          * Power Point, speaking, Q&A

                                          Workshops—Individual Visits
                                          AFP teachers (including Buffalo State students) follow a brief 30-minute presentation with a 60-90 minute workshop session.  Workshop features interactive, participatory exercises and games focusing on the power of storytelling (theater) as a tool for collaborative conflict resolution. Longer workshops culminate in the student’s creation of an original performance.  Group size: 10-25 students.
                                          * Power Point, group exercises and games, everyone participates

                                          Residency--Your Students Create an Original Stage Production AFP teachers (Drew Kahn, Carl Wilkens, Buffalo State College students) guide your student group through the entire process of Research, Rehearsal and Presentation of creating an original performance.  AFP teaching team will conduct bi-weekly workshops at your school (either one semester or academic year), assign lessons, provide source material and perform examples of live theater.  Group size:  15-30 students; MUST be the same students throughout the process.
                                          * Power Point, rehearsal space, computer/internet access, performance space, faculty/administrative support, complete schedule commitment.

                                          Residency—Your Students Perform the Play I’m Not Leaving by Carl Wilkens
                                          AFP teachers (Carl Wilkens, Drew Kahn) lead your students through the creative process of Researching, Rehearsing and Performingthe play I’m Not Leaving; based on the book by Carl Wilkens depicting his 100 harrowing days as the only American who stayed in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide.  This residency involves several visits with Carl Wilkens as he shares first-hand knowledge of the power of service and responsibility. Both Carl Wilkens and Drew Kahn will guide the students through the storytelling process and attend the performance.  Carl Wilkens will speak and respond to questions after the performance.
                                          * Power Point, rehearsal space, computer/internet access, faculty/administrative support, complete schedule commitment, purchase of the book I’m Not Leaving for each student and faculty member involved and copies for school library.

                                          AFP Conference Participation
                                          Schools who participate in the AFP Residency program will be scheduled to perform their school’s original production at the annual conference of The Anne Frank Project, which occurs every September on the campus of Buffalo State College.  The conference is streamed live over the internet so your school’s production will be shared around the world.

                                          AFP Conference Attendance
                                          Schools who participate in any AFP in the Schools programming option above are invited to attend the annual conference of The Anne Frank Project free of charge.  Your school must provide transportation to/from Buffalo State College and any food costs.

                                          *  COSTS:  AFP in the Schools is currently funded by generous grants for the initial pilot period of programming, so there is no cost to schools in Western New York.  Program fees for schools outside Western New York will be negotiated independently.  Due to scheduling and quality control, AFP will only commit programming to a small group of schools.  AFP graciously accepts any donations schools may wish to make.  All such donations go directly to future AFP programming.
